Kenmore 80 Series Washer Repair
Hi everyone,
I've been having a problem with my Kenmore 80 series top load washer where it doesn't spin correctly. I've searched all over this forum and other sites but still haven't been able to figure it out. The problem is the spinning. It will spin slowly right near the beginning after the initial wash, but then won't spin at all on the final spin after the rinse. The agitation looks fine to me, and it drains well enough with good water pressure coming out of the drain hose. There is some water left at the bottom of the tub, is this normal? When it attempts to spin, the motor is running but nothing is happening. The coupler is fine and there are no odd noises. I took out the transmission and there was some grime and oil where the clutch is so I cleaned it out. The white pads look fine and I cleaned them up as well. Are you suppose to be able to turn this clutch when it's in? There is resistance on it but I can get it to move fairly easily. I can also turn the white plastic piece that is attached to what I believe is the brake. It will turn one way and spin the tub. On the transmission, if I turn the coupler with my hand, the drive shaft turns. However, if I grab the drive shaft with my other hand I can stop it from spinning. Is this the problem? If so, how is it fixed? Any ideas what else it could be? Thanks in advance. Comments are closed.
